Also known as ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, endovenous chemical ablation in Northwest Arkansas uses a chemical irritant, called a sclerosant, which is injected into the problem veins, causing them to collapse and seal shut. By closing down the diseased veins, the blood is rerouted to functioning veins, alleviating symptoms.

Is there any downtime with endovenous chemical ablation?

Endovenous chemical ablation is performed in our office and requires minimal downtime. Immediately following treatment, you should be able to walk. For the first 24 hours, your legs will be wrapped, though you should be able to return to work and your daily routine the day after your treatment. For at least two weeks following treatment, you will need to wear gradient compression garments.

When can I expect results?

For optimal relief from your varicose veins, a series of treatments is usually necessary. During the months after your treatments, you will experience relief from your symptoms as your varicose veins close up and eventually disappear. We often recommend a series of treatments spaced four weeks apart to obtain your best results.
